Every time I pick up a guitar lately, I just want to turn the amp as loud as I can and bang out chords. Walls and walls of contemptuous noise. I can play SRV and John Mayer, and if my wrists don't hurt I can do the retarded dragonforce sweep picking bullshit--but I usually don't want to. The Clash is better Dreamtheater, to me; that's what it comes down to. Ever watch a video of the clash on youtube? Even if the guitars are out of tune and the mics are cutting out, and the drummer is breaking sticks... it's still better than watching a pyro heavy rock show from someone like Shinedown. And that's the thing of it--there's a certain integrity to simple, fast, angry music that cannot be found anywhere else. |
